The Williamsburg Regional Library, Williamsburg/James City County's newest library (near Lightfoot), comes complete not only with books, but with computers that offer Internet access. The library has had a lot of interest in the computers and in the use of the World Wide Web. They have arranged for volunteers, including some of the staff of the Williamsburg Internet Association, to "staff" the computers a few hours a week.
Hours when assistance and training is available:
Mondays 10 AM - 12 PM and 1 - 3 PM Tuesdays 10 AM - 12 PM Wednesdays 7 - 9 PM Thursdays 2:30 - 4:30 PM and 7:30 - 9 PM Friday - Saturdays 10 AM - 1 PM
If you are interested in obtaining assistance and instruction, you are encouraged to call ahead of time at 259-7720. You can reserve a 1/2 hour or full hour appointment that way, and they can make sure that there aren't any surprises on the schedule (for example, they are short one Saturday volunteer per month, so there is an occasional Saturday where there's no one there.)
Of course, persons who are already knowledgeable about computers and the Internet are in great demand. If you are in a position to help others get up to speed on the 'net and you would like to volunteer, please contact Sherle Abramson at the Williamsburg Regional Library.
The library is located on Croaker Road between Richmond Road (Route 60) and I-64. There is a map on their web site.
